The "Rumba" Tank Top

Spring has finally arrived here in Michigan. With that said, I am already gearing up for a great Summer. So I am creating what I call the "Rumba Tank Top." This shirt is created from taking the sleeves off your favorite long sleeve shirt and sewing strips down the front of the shirt.

Once you sew the strips, make even cuts along the strips, then tie them in knots. It is quite tasking hand tying all the knots but when finished. The shirt is quite something to see. Your friends will want to know where you got it.

Misses Orange tank top
This is a cotton/polyester blend so the knots turn out
more like tubes. If you use a shirt that is 100% cotton, the
knots will be more free flowing.

Stop by the store and see all the great shirts and jewelry created with warm days and hot nights in mind.

Let's Braid and Weave!

This week I am gearing up for a new twist on some spring tops. Braiding and weaving different shapes and designs into your shirts can give any boring plain shirt a face lift. Here is an example of one I have already completed for my Artfire shop.

I placed satin under the weave so when it is worn no skin shows. The contrast between the cotton and satin makes for an interesting look. More to come soon. I have four more shirts I am working on. Check out salinabear on you tube if you want a great tutorial on how to weave and braid. Super easy. Enjoy..

Going Hay Wire

I know I said this week was all about Lace and it is, I have many more Lacy projects in the works but I was playing around with wire wrapping and found I am addicted to this material. Here are some of the pieces I created for the store. I am working on some great rings and bracelets. Next is wire wrapped charms and necklaces.

"Chantilly Lace and a Pretty Face"

I love that song and I am in love with Lace this week. I have found myself drawn to the delicateness of this material. So this weeks projects are all going to be about lace. It is the one material that instantly can make you feel girly but done wrong can make you feel antique.Check out this weeks first lace refashion.

Flower Power

Hi everyone. Deer widows weekend really threw my creative groove off. But I'm back and with some new great flower pins to add to any wardrobe.

Each one was made from scraps of left over material from other projects. I love the diverse patterns. I try to use all the material I can. Waste not right? Check out www.kalipsoskreations.artfire.com to see more of my creations that are available for purchase. Thanks for stopping by..

Finally finished some really unique headbands. Feathers are all the rage right now.
I have seen a ton of flower accented headbands but not very many feather ones.
Here are my first feather headband designs.

Black and White Guinea Feathers are accented with rhinestones
and attached to a re-purposed silver buckle.

Brown Turkey Feathers and Dyed Ostrich Feathers are
accented by rhinestones and attached to a
re-purposed silver buckle.
